XIII World Congress

3-7 September 2007

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Theme: Living Together, Education and Intercultural Dialogue

The XIII World Congress was held in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovinam 3-7 September 2007. It was hosted by the Mediterranean Society of Comparative Education (MESCE), and organised under the leadership of Adila Kreso of the University of Sarajevo.

Adila Kreso is a distinguished scholar who is fluent in several major languages and has great organisational skills. Among the countries in which she has worked for extended periods are Iran and the USA.

Sarajevo is a historic city of great beauty and cultural significance. It has already undergone great reconstruction since the civil war, and further reconstruction will have taken place by the time of the Congress. As a meeting ground of Islamic, Christian and Jewish cultures, and as a society with recent memories of strife, it was an especially appropriate location for a Congress on the theme "Living Together, Education and Intercultural Dialogue".
